COURSE PREREQUISITE
This module is designed to be taught in conjunction with the American Red Cross Adult, Child, Infant CPR course. Generally speaking, the term “pediatric” in government regulations refer to newborns through those 18 years of age. A participant who holds a current certificate from one of the following American Red Cross courses may participate in the American Red Cross Child Care First Aid module stand – alone:
Infant CPR and Child CPR and Adult CPR or Infant and Child CPR and Adult CPR Adult, Child and Infant CPR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.
American Heart Association Training: Participants who have an American Heart Association CPR for Health Care Providers certificate (Certificate “C”) issued within the last twenty – four months may participate in the stand – alone First Aid module.
Child Care Preventative Health and Safety Module Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites required to participate in the Child Care Preventative Health and Safety module.
CRITERIA FOR COURSE COMPLETION AND CERTIFICATION
Participants in the CPR/First Aid portion of this course are evaluated on their participation, skills , and knowledge through the use of skill demonstrations and written exams. Exams are given for the Adult, Child and Infant CPR course, and another at the end of the First Aid module.
